Kraan is a Krautrock/jazz fusion group based in Ulm, Germany that rose to prominence throughout the 1970s and 1980s with several minor hits that have reserved a place for the band amongst the more subtle innovators of the Krautrock genre. Many feel that Kraan's trajectory as a leading band was at its strongest during the production of its first three albums, however, following several line-up changes and widely differing visions for the band's future, many of Kraan's subsequent albums leading up to the band's breakup would consistently fall short in the eyes of critics. Following a hiatus that lasted nearly a decade, Kraan reunited in 2000, much to the delight of fans who view the band's recent style as being the musical revelation they had always hoped for the band to achieve.
