Intent on blurring the lines between electronic production and organic instrumentation, Chicago-based band The Coop is a group that's helping stoke the fire of the evolution of the modern electronic scene. The instrumental quartet released its debut LP, Internalize, in 2011 but despite the band's well-honed approach to recording, The Coop is primarily a live act, and the group's ability to improvise as a collective is something to behold. With rhythmic propulsion and tasteful saxophone accompaniments, many of The Coop's songs have a distinctive quality that is both dance-friendly and introspective.
