North Sea Gas is a traditional Scottish folk band that was founded in 1979. Based out of Edinburgh, the group has built a reputation for itself as a premier live band that is able to capitalize off its natural performance strengths. In 1993, the band received both the Gold and Silver Disc awards from the Scottish Music Industry for its album Caledonian Connection. Having since gone on to release several more award winning albums, in 2006, North Sea Gas’ recordings were added to the Folklore Library of the School of Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
