Led by music director and conductor Nicholas Wallin, the Mid-Columbia Symphony has been a cultural haven for the Mid-Columbia region for over 60 years. The professional organization formed during the World War II era, and holds between four and seven official productions annually, as well as additional community events in the area. Wallin strikes a balance in his collaborations; he meshes the classic American music with local musicians' compositions, and mixes the canonical symphonic repertoire with works by living composers.
