Founded in 1989, Bangarra Dance Theater is an Aboriginal contemporary dance company from Australia. The word Bangarra is derived from a Wiradjuri word meaning 'to make fire'. Every dancer belongs to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community who come together to celebrate one of the oldest cultures the world has seen. These professionally-trained artists take inspiration from the age-old as well as present-day stories and songs to create a magical performance. With stunning visuals, powerful moves and strong representation of their culture, the Bangarra Dance Theater keeps entrancing audiences from around the world.
