Young Medicine, originally formed in Kansas City, Kansas, emerged from the creative partnership of Bret Liber and Josh Hurst. Initially members of the metalcore band Bella Muerte, the duo shifted gears in 2014 to explore a different sonic direction. With the addition of bassist Peter Romano and drummer Mace May (later replaced by Michael McEvoy), Young Medicine quickly gained recognition, earning the title of Best Alternative Band of 2015 by Project Backstage. Embracing the DIY ethos, they self-produced and released their own music, accompanied by self-made videos, and maintained an active touring schedule. Their cover of *NSYNC's "Tearin' Up My Heart" in 2018 brought them increased visibility, and in August 2019, they released their debut full-length album, Interlinked, featuring standout tracks like "Shinjū," "Not Human," and "Living Fiction." The album achieved success, reaching number 22 on the Heatseekers chart, and an instrumental version of Interlinked followed in November 2019, solidifying Young Medicine's position as a rising force in the alternative music scene.
