Roger Whittaker is an Anglo-Kenyan soft rock singer/songwriter who is best known for his characteristic baritone voice and remarkable whistling ability. Born in England, Whittaker's family moved to Kenya when he was a child and the culture of the African nation left a strong impact on Whittaker as he was being reared. Though he was raised in a musical family, learning the guitar at an early age, upon being released by the national service after spending two years with the Kanya Regiment, he decided to pursue a career in medicine. But he shortly decided that a life of a doctor wasn't well suited for him and decided to pursue a career as a professional musician. Releasing his debut single in 1969, Whittaker has since managed to become a well respected and formidable talent amid the easy listening community over his decades long career.
