The German pop/techno duo Die Atzen (coll. for pal or mate) became famous in the summer of 2009 with their summer hit Das geht ab! (That Rocks!). The song would be played for a month in every disco in Germany and especially on the Spanish island of Majorca, a favorite holiday spot for Germans--also where many German summer hits are made. The duo consists of the rapper Frauenarzt (Gynecologist) and DJ Manny Marc. In their music, Die Atzen are combining very simple techno beats with poor rapping and catchy sing-along choruses. Since Frauenarzt's earlier work was of an extreme sexual and vulgar content, it was often confiscated by the German Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons; the music of Die Atzen however, is mostly G-rated but still could be considered by some to be obscene.
