Similar to some of their like-minded contemporaries such as Lily Allen and Nellie McKay, the members of The Scarletz wrap their contemporary vocal pop songs around retro stylistic touchstones--ska and reggae specifically. The London-based quartet manages to escape typical girl pop group pigeonholing thanks to its quirky songwriting and the tasteful use of its two-tone ska influences. While performing live, the Scarletz utilize the talents of a live band, helping its pop songs take on a livelier appeal in the live setting.
