Yaaks is a dance-punk quintet from Eastbourne, England that until recently, ironically or not, was best known for its members' elusiveness and the relatively small amount of information about the band made available since the band formed in 2008. Drawing intellectual and creative influence from the work of 18th Century French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Yaaks manages to infuse some of the most experimental dance punk sounds into a pop context--ensuring that the band's music maintains its edge without losing its driving, pop qualities. The band's breakout single, "HRHRHYTHM" is considered by many familiar with Yaaks' work as being a sure sign of what's to come in the future from one of the more fascinating dance punk bands on the British music scene.
