After winning the 2001 Red Bull Academy competition, Liverpool-based DJ and producer Mr. Paul began hosting his own DJ night in his native city. While his initial sound incorporated more indie dance rock styles, as Mr. Paul progressed as a DJ, he began to lean more toward acid techno and disco house--still dance music, but without the indie rock element. This stylistic change might have shifted his audience, but it also found Mr. Paul a good deal of support from renowned DJs and landed him slots opening for the likes of Toddla T and Felix da Housecat.
