Similar to some of its like-minded contemporaries, such as Best Coast and Sonny & The Sunsets, Sauna fuses the world of modern indie songwriting with the charming naivety of 1950s pop. Surfy guitars, reverb-heavy vocals and tinny production are all commonplace, adding to the intentionally lo-fi chic of bands of its ilk. The Denver-based four-piece might not craft songs with a ton of depth--either lyrically or sonically--but there is no denying the palpable sense of fun that clearly went into making it.
