With a blues rock core, a three-piece horn section, a rapper and a jazz vocalist, the Chicago-bred Kids These Days manages to incorporate several different components of the strong musical lineage of its hometown. The group met while most members were only 15 years-old, instantly forming a bond over hip-hop, soul and jazz music. As all eight of them have matured, both personally and musically, Kids These Days has honed in on a slick hybrid style that couples high-energy performance with a deep-rooted musical knowledge that seems to go far beyond the years of any of its members. The band has developed a strong following throughout the Midwest and has been rewarded with slots at big name festivals such as Lollapalooza.
