The Monteverdi Choir is a choral ensemble based in London that specializes in the performance of Baroque classical music, but has mastered a repertoire of choral works that extend through the 20th Century. Founded in 1964 by famed English conductor John Eliot Gardiner for a performance of a choral work by the 17th Century composer Claudio Monteverdi, the Monteverdi Choir has since become known not only for its extensive repertoire of choral music but also for its firm focus on giving stylistically authentic performances. The choir performs regularly with Gardiner's orchestras, the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique.
