Music was a part of Joe Corales Jr.'s life throughout his childhood. He picked up the guitar and bass in high school where he played for rock bands. He was later introduced to electronic music and became involved in turntablism and creating mashups. He describes his music as a blend of experimental rock and electronic music of various kinds. The singles "Again With The Subtitles," "In Two, the Weakly" and "It's Not the Same," from his 2006 debut You Are Beautiful At All Times (under the name Yppah) were featured in movies and popular Tv shows. His second album They Know What Ghost Know, released in 2009, was met with highly positive reviews. His subsequent albums Eighty One and Tiny Pause were also highly successful, with the former receiving widespread critical acclaim.
