The United Kingdom in the 1990s was a breeding ground for innovative electronic music. Jungle, drum & bass and 2-step were all being pioneered and toyed with by the leading producers and DJs of the day. During this time Steve Goodman (known to many by his stage name Kode9) was working on a style of music called dubstep. This style of music would come to define the electronic music scene in the 2000s and would lift Goodman to international acclaim. Goodman's success also let him form his own record label, the well respected Hyperdub, which has since launched the careers of several influential dubstep artists.
