Jamaaladeen Tacuma is a jazz fusion bassist from Hempstead, New York who initially served as bassist for jazz legend Ornette Coleman in the mid-1970s before launching his solo career with his debut album, Show Stopper, in 1983. Having collaborated some some of modern jazz's more revered characters including James "Blood" Ulmer, Walk Dickerson and Chuck Hammer, in addition to continuing to release well-received albums, Tacuma was distinguished himself as one of the better respected jazz bassists of his generation.
