Formed in 1969, Bread was a band from Los Angeles that has come to be looked at as a prime example of a soft rock group. With acoustic ballads and doleful, romantic lyrics, the band managed to catapult itself to mainstream success in the 1970s with a slew of singles that fared extremely well on American radio charts. Though Bread oftentimes comes under criticism for its slightly drab style of characteristic adult contemporary music, due credit must be given to the band for its ability to write catchy and listener-friendly songs that have managed to maintain their listenability fairly well over time.
