Dark Angel (years active: 1983–1992, 2002–2005) was a thrash metal band from Downey, California that became particularly well-known for its extremely fast and heavy style of thrash metal that earned the band the nickname "the L.A. Caffeine Machine." Following the band's lackluster debut album, released in 1985, Dark Angel would see wide-spread critical and commercial success with the release of its sophomore effort Darkness Descends is 1986. The band would spend the remainder of the 1980s recording albums and performing on tours rather successfully until the members of Dark Angel decided to disband in 1993. Although the band reunited shortly in 2002, Dark Angel is now considered to be permanently retired.
