Mother Love Bone (years active: 1988-1990) was an alternative/grunge rock band from Seattle that is perhaps best known as a precursor to Pearl Jam, which the members of MLB would form shortly after disbanding in 1990. The band's primary creative talent and front man was Andrew Wood, who worked tirelessly with the band to release its much anticipated debut album Apple in 1990. However, Wood passed away as a result of a heroin overdose and the band broke up shortly thereafter, only to regroup with Eddie Vedder as its front man under the now iconic alternative rock band Pearl Jam.
