During the heyday of theatrical rock in the 70s, Texas born singer/songwriter Meat Loaf (or Michael Aday) achieved widespread mainstream success with grandiose album releases and off-broadway musicals. Born to a family of gospel singers, Aday rebelled against his family's expectations, permanently adopted his childhood nickname, likely given to him due to his size, and began making music in Los Angeles. Attaining the most success from his collaborations with classically trained pianist Tim Steinman on Bat Out of Hell 1 and 2, Meat Loaf remains famous for songs off of these albums which are often used in commercials and films.
