Jim Seals and Dash Crofts together formed Seals & Crofts, one of the top-selling soft rock bands of the 1970s. The two met while gigging throughout their home state of Texas, eventually deciding to form a musical partnership. Their career path moved them both out to Los Angeles, where the likelihood of being discovered would undoubtedly be greater. Sure enough, after a series of failed projects, they wound up eventually signing a contract with Warner Bros. Records as Seals & Crofts in 1971. Hit singles like "Summer Breeze" and "Diamond Girl" defined the duo's customary sound--an airy blend of acoustic rock and singer/songwriter style ballads full of vocal harmonies. By 1980, Seals & Crofts' contract with Warner Bros. had run its course, prompting the duo to go on an indefinite hiatus. A couple of brief reunions have flared up over the subsequent decades, but the group's music is unquestionably meant to remain a product of the decade that first produced it.
