Henry Mancini was an American conductor and composer known for penning some of the most well-known film scores of all-time. Winning 20 Grammy Awards throughout his illustrious career, he composed scores for over 40 television shows and films, most notably including The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Charlie's Angels. After high school, Mancini attended the Juilliard School of Music before being drafted into the military. At the conclusion of his service, he took at job at the music department of Universal Pictures in 1952, sparking a prolific period that established him as an in-demand talent around Hollywood. Mancini's ability to blend bits of pop, jazz and easy listening, whether in stripped-down or fully orchestrated arrangements, made popular selections such as "The Pink Panther Theme" and "Baby Elephant Walk" pop culture staples that remain relevant to this day. He died in 1994 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 70.
