Brainchild of creative leader Eric Brendo, The Asteroid Shop is an ambient rock band based in Austin. Guitarist and lead vocalist Brendo is joined by Michael Kester on keyboards, Todd Purner on lead guitar, Tray Duncan on bass and Jonathan Konya on drums. Together, with the help of Explosions in the Sky producer/engineer Erik Wofford, the band released its self-titled debut album in 2011. The album explores the theme of elegance in the face of pain, while stumbling the line between ease and tension, offering thoughtful and ambient music. The Asteroid Shop was recorded live to an analog tape and finished in production with minimal overdubbing. The Asteroid Shop supported its album with a cross-country tour of the US in the fall of 2011.
