Similar to groups such as Vampire Weekend and Islands, Way Yes incorporates African music influences into its sunny brand of indie pop. The trio, which consists of Glenn Davis, Travis Hall and Dylan Meister, formed in Columbus, Ohio in 2010, the product of a longtime friendship between Davis and Hall. Using a template of bouncy African and Latin rhythms, breezy guitar work, subtle electronic flourishes and catchy songwriting, the band efficiently creates light and danceable tracks that are very much a product of the times they're being created in. Way Yes has yet to find much of a following outside of its home of Ohio, but with continued touring and recording, it should ultimately find the success it deserves.
