Honor By August is a Washington D.C.-based rock band known for its easily accessible pop songwriting and focus on crafting melodically catchy hooks. Formerly known as Motive, the group emerged from the college music scene at Georgetown University. Slowly building up a local following, the band eventually found itself opening for Hanson, after winning a battle of the bands contest. Honor By August's light and straightforward songwriting, which is full of romantic lyrics and soaring harmonies, is tailor-made for modern rock radio, and has helped the band open for the likes of Hootie & The Blowfish, Bon Jovi and The Pat McGee Band over recent years.
