Rebecca Zapen is an American singer/songwriter who dabbles in a number of different genres, including folk, jazz and classical. The Jacksonville, Florida-based musician was classically trained on violin, a product of her upbringing in a passionately musical family. As a singer, Zapen channels some classic jazz vocalists, crooning with a rich and vintage warmness. Despite her roots in classic styles, however, Zapen has recently found strong praise for her more modern indie folk compositions. Combining sparse instrumentation via ukulele or guitar, twee-tinged singing and quirky lyrics, she's capable of penning charmingly direct pop ditties and ballads that represent just one small side of her variety of musical talents.
