Formed in Arcata, California in 2009, Ash Borer creates a pummeling form of black metal that has began to win it a solid following within metal circles on the West Coast. After a couple of split releases with fellow black metal cohorts Fell Voices, the group began to release its own full-length albums of original material in 2011. Relentless rhythms and ear-splitting guitar tones create a dark and punishingly atmospheric sound that should be at once familiar and agreeable to fans who consider themselves to be appreciators of the black metal genre.
