Born and raised in Austin, TX Danny Schmidt is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who creates folk music. After buying his first guitar at the age of 12, he was inspired by blues music and eventually discovered the music of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Tom Waits, subsequently shifting his sound from blues to blues-tinged folk. While living in Charlottesville, VA Schmidt began to share his music with coffee shop patrons and eventually released his first album, a live effort titled Live at the Prism Coffeehouse, in 2001. The following year he signed a deal with Live Once Records and released three studio albums between 2001 and 2005 starting with his debut LP, Enjoying the Fall. After 2005's Parables & Primes, Schmidt released Instead the Forest Rose to Sing with Waterbug Records in 2008 and then settled with Red House Records for his next few records, including 2011's Man of Many Moons, while maintaining his roots music meets ballad style.
