A Nottingham-native, Sam Sweeney is a folk musician and a well-versed fiddle player who is also a multi-instrumentalist. He has been part of multiple bands and has collaborated with different artists. This has not only helped him grow as an artist but has also diversified his compositions and helped him go beyond the boundaries of traditional English folk. His musical journey is dotted with many awards and recognition. In 2002, he received the Wiltshire Folk Association's Young Folk Award and in 2015 he won the prestigious 'Musician of the Year' award at the annual BBC Radio 2 Folk Award show. In 2018, he began his solo career with the release of his debut album, The Unfinished Violin. His clever use of elements from the folk music of other European countries and the celebratory tone of his tracks have been praised by fans and critics alike.
