Nantes 5 piece, Tribeqa, fronted by Josselin Quentin, who was classically trained and specializes in the vibraphone and the rare, traditional African instrument, the balafon, produces experimental hip hop with its roots planted deeply in afrobeat. Incorporating elements of nu-jazz, soul, dub and classical, Tribeqa melds sounds of the past with present, of its local Nantes with urban America and ancient Africa.
