Formed in Sweden in 2007 as a side project for Kristoffer Bäckström, the bassist of hardcore band The Pookie Syndrome, Moloken began with a 6-song demo recorded primarily by Bäckström. After realizing the potential of his sludgy, post-hardcore, atmospheric metal sound, Bäckström recruited his brother and a couple friends to join the band, making it an official group. After signing to Discouraged Records, the band began touring Europe extensively.
