Oakland's Wallpaper started as the solo electronic music project of classically trained composer Eric Frederic. It quickly grew into a full live band with Frederic donning the stage persona of Ricky Reed--a skirt-chasing,party machine that's a self-conscious satire fully embodying the ridiculous tropes of pop stardom. Readily employing heavily auto-tuned vocals years before T-Pain and Kanye West helped make them ubiquitous, Wallpaper skillfully skewers pop cliches while simultaneously crafting relentlessly catchy, '80s-tinged dance-pop with hints of both electronica and modern Afro-pop.
