Rome Ramirez learned to play guitar at the age of 11 and grew up in Southern California listening to reggae rock bands like Sublime. As Ramirez grew up, he managed to learn the majority of Sublime's songs on the guitar and even managed to imitate the band's late singer Bradley Nowell's singing style quite well. After being introduced by a mutual friend to the two remaining members of Sublime, Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, they created some impressive jams in the studio and the trio decided to go on tour under the name Sublime with Rome. Though this group remains the main focus of Ramirez, he occasionally performs solo material that also tends to fall under the reggae rock category.
