Jay Leonhart is a New York City-based jazz bassist who has played with a number music luminaries over his decades long career. Having backed up the likes of Judy Garland, Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich and Sting, Leonhart has proven himself as one of the more accomplished and reliable stand up bassists of his generation. Though Leonhart might best be known for his work as a hired gun, he also performs as a band leader and has released a fairly steady supply of solo material since releasing his debut album, Salamander Pie, in 1983.
