Based in Durham, NC, Southern rock band Loamlands is comprised of Kym Register and Will Hackney. At age 13, Register received her grandfather's guitar, which sparked life into her musical pursuits. Together with Hackney, with whom she had been collaborating for years, she formed Loamlands in early 2013. Expressing contemporary thoughts through Southern styles, Loamlands delivers tales that often balance between the political and the personal. Inspired by the personal library of classic country songs that was left behind by Register's grandfather, the duo's debut album Some Kind Of Light was brought to life in 2014.
