New Orleans native Andrea Gibson is a spoken word poet and vocalist who rose to recognition after relocating to Colorado and becoming a fixture at the weekly poetry readings at The Mercury Cafe, Denver's political hub. After representing Denver at The National Poetry Slam in Rhode Island in 2004, she joined Vox Feminista, a performing arts group aiming for social change. With a style of poetry that deconstructs and demystifies the political game through issues of gender norms, capitalism and white privilege, Gibson has earned a reputation as a radical and powerful voice of feminism and cultural revolution.
