La coscienza di Zeno is an Italian dramatic play that was adapted by a book of the same name that was published in 1923. Centering around the protagonist Zeno Cosini who comes from a rich family and lives a mundane life, the story deals with themes about existentialism, social anxiety and the importance of asserting one's self in a sprawling homogeneous society.
