American Psycho is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik and book by Roberto Aguirrie-Sacasa. Based on Bret Easton Ellis's sardonic 1991 novel American Psycho, which also inspired the 2000 film of the same name, the story takes place in Manhattan during the late-1980s and revolves around Patrick Bateman, a handsome, stylish investment banker who also like to kill people. The musical premiered at London's Almeida Theater in 2013 and has since received its Broadway debut in 2016.
