Brookyln female duo Talk Normal sounds more like it formed in the wake of the 70s no-wave movement, rather than in 2007. Utilizing heavy distortion, abrasive vocals and only a guitar and small drum set as their instruments, Sarah Register and Andrya Ambro thrive in the New York noise rock circles, despite their preference for a more vintage sound than most. While the duo's debut album contains enough production to be just palatable enough, while still being experimental, Talk Normal doesn't seem to have quite mastered this balance in its live performances. However, with more time and practice, the band will perhaps be able to recreate live what it does so impressively in the studio.
