Dave Brubeck (1920-2012) was the famed composer of timeless classics like "Take 5" and "The Duke" was a master at creating genres, breaking rules, and was a true American legend. Brubeck was born in 1920 in California, and released his first record in 1949, although his most famous release featuring songs like "Blue Rondo a la Turk" and "Take 5" is Time Out and it wasn't unleashed to the public until 1959. He inspired everyone from The Beatles to John Coltrane and has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, BBC Jazz Lifetime Achievement Award, and the National Medal of the Arts from the National Endowment for the Arts foundation among many others for his excellence.
