Portastatic

Portastatic is the project of former Superchunk front man Mac McCaughan, who has surprisingly managed to released a dizzying amount of work since leaving his other band. McCaughan's unmistakable voice is clearly at the center of his Portastatic project and has even bled into soundtrack work for the films Looking For Leonard and Who Loves the Sun. McCaughan's work has explored various strains of American rock n roll, and McCaughan's production style rarely departs from the use of acoustic instrumentation except during his more upbeat songs, that utilize more layering and nuance.
