With roots in both Los Angeles and the central California town of Santa Cruz, Adam Payne has maintained his punky alt-rock project, Residual Echoes, since 2005. Jangly pop meets head-on with the type of distorted guitar-driven, punk-rooted rock music that bands like Dinosaur Jr. and the Meat Puppets were creating in the 80s. Though Payne has usually worked alone (with the exception of putting together touring bands), he solidified an official lineup in 2010 with the additions of bassist Greg Arnold and drummer Allen Blyleyeye, which led to the 2010 LP, Dead Head.
