The Grapes of Wrath

The Grapes of Wrath is a stage adaption of John Steinbeck's epic American Dust Bowl-era novel of the same name. The play premiered in 1988 at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago to major critical acclaim, and later on Broadway in 1990 starring Gary Sinise as Tom Joad. The play's 188 Broadway performances earned The Grapes of Wrath a Tony Award for Best Play in 1990, and is regularly performed today at theaters throughout the United States.
