Before deciding to focus his attentions on electronic music, Glasgow-based producer, Tom Marshallsay, worked within the experimental corners of the UK rock and folk scenes. With Dam Mantle, he applies that same outside-the-box mentality to an electronic hybrid of dubstep, electro and instrumental hip-hop. Marshallsay employs the standard heavy bass tones and skittering beats of dubstep and combines them with a psychedelic and pop-minded approach that is full of swirling synthesizers and diced up vocal samples. Dam Mantle has recently become an in-demand remixer and has reworked tracks by Gold Panda and Au Revoir Simone, amongst others.
