The Chicago-based group L'Altra makes a style of music that employs a drastic amount of influences from a staggering amount of different genres, making it nearly impossible to pigeonhole the group's characteristic style. Formed in 1999, the members of the band incorporate subtle horn arrangements, acute piano melodies, simple rhythm accompaniments, occasional electronic beats and dainty female vocals--courtesy of singer Lindsay Anderson--to craft an original style of music that's unlike any material created by any other band on the music scene today. The group has maintained a respectable level of underground notoriety and even though the group will undoubtedly never go mainstream with a radio-friendly top 40 hit. L'Altra will surely continue to crank out it's unique style of music on a consistent basis for years to come.
