Montreal-based band Meta Gruau utilizes a guitar, drums and a synthesizer, melding together the new wave sounds of New York along with classic punk's raw energy. The trio's sound is decidedly abrasive, but the addition of synth and mellow French-language vocals tame the group's punk attitude into something nearly resembling pop. Meta Gruau's debut album Tendret et Mauve was released in December of 2010.
