Born and raised in Wexford, Ireland, Pierce Turner's musical trajectory seemed to be set early on. His mother was in a band and ran a record shop, lending her love for music to Turner, who began to be classically trained before he was ten years-old. His traditional Irish style-infused version of folk rock debuted in 1987, with his LP, It's Only a Long Way Across, which had the notable distinction of being produced by legendary experimental composer, Phillip Glass. Pierce has continued to regularly release albums ever since, unfortunately to little fanfare. He maintains a devoted group of followers, however, who have carefully monitored the output of the crooning troubadour.
