Since 1989, the Chevelles have been churning out fantastic power pop from their home base in Western Australia. The band's sound is a blend of many 1960s-based influences, such as psychedelia, surf and garage rock. This quartet has featured many line-up changes over the years, but high school classmates Duane Smith and Jeff Halley have been constant members. Their first single, "Be My Friend"/"She Don't Come Around," was released in 1990 and their debut album, The Kids Ain't Hip, came out in 1992.
