Just as likely to croon a raspy Southern blues jam as a melodramatic indie rock toe-tapper, The Snowdroppers is a quartet that manages to blend equal parts Tom Waits and Hot Hot Heat. Based out of Sydney, the group takes its name from a 1920s Australian slang term referring to cocaine-addicts, and is somewhat of an anomaly in its native country, sounding more like an American South transplant than a group of Sydney boys. Despite, and possibly because of its unusual penchant for traditionally Southern music, the band has won over a fairly large audience throughout Australia, intrigued by the band's brash lyrics and vintage style.
